Stuart Number 1 was built by Mr. Stuart Tuner over one hundred years ago. It is a classic design, and so beautifully proportioned, that it makes the perfect display model.

This engine is quite capable of hard work producing 1/2 bhp at 800 rpm. For marine installations we are able to offer a reverse gear and discwheel.
Please remember our sets of castings require the use of a lathe and milling machine to turn them into a working steam engine.

The Stuart 5A is a powerful engine from which you would expect many years of hard work. The engine is capable of producing 1 1/2 bhp at 100 psi pressure whilst running at 800 rpm. Its reputation for hard work has led it into many demanding situations for example driving dynamos, pumps, compressors and other machinery.
An optional discwheel, feed pump and reverse gear are available which would enable you to use this model as a marine engine.
Please note that we only supply this engine as a set of castings and drawings, there are no materials or fixings in the kit.

Stuart Major Beam Castings, all materials, fixings and drawings.

The Stuart Major Beam is typical of the smaller industrial engines of the nineteenth century. It is based on a eighth scale model designed by Mr. George Gentry and serialised in Model Engineer magazine throughout 1914.
In 1968 modifications were made to the engine by Mr. H. A. Taylor including a reduction in the bore, a redesigned feed pump and replacement of Whitworth fixings with B.A.
The Stuart Major Beam kit includes all the castings, finished gears, piston rings and drawings but none of the necessary materials or fixings.

The Stuart 6A is the largest engine in our range, being capable of producing approximately 4 bhp at 120 psi whilst running at 750 rpm. This is enough power to drive an eighteen to twenty two foot boat.
This engine is fitted with a boiler feed pump as standard to keep the water supply constant. A condenser is also fitted together with an Edwards style pump to keep it clear of condensate.
The Stuart 6A is only supplied as a full set of castings and drawings, we do not supply any fixings or materials.

Stuart Feed Water Pump Casting Kit

Steam Boiler Feed Pump Unmachined Set of Castings
The Steam Boiler Feed Pump is a most interesting model to build requiring good workmanship. The pumping parts are gunmetal and stainless steel. The pump will work at speeds from 200 to 10 strokes per minute. The stroke may be shortened by moving the two collars closer together.
