The technology of this engine represents a combination of Wilesco types D 20 and D 16, enhanced by a number of technical refinements. The brass boiler, highly polished and nickel plated, has a capacity of 30.5 in. The condensed water is fed to a tank hidden behind the boiler house, causing the chimney to smoke realistically. The engine plate has now been additionally fitted with a dynamo to supply the streetlight at the rear, between the boiler and engine, with current. This Steam Turbine is a model representation of one built by Hero (or Heron) of Alexandria. Hero is said to be the first person to invent a steam engine. The engine used rocket-like propulsion to turn, forcing high pressure steam from small nozzles at it side. The Hero's Steam Terbine is a more modern version of the engine invented by Hero, it come with a Steam safty valve already attached, Methylated Spirit Burner, four (4) Cotton Wicks, a 20ml Syringe, and a manual on how to operate. The Turbine has a base that is 5 3/4 inches long and 4 3/4 inches wide. The top of the Arch is 3 1/2 inches above the base and Safety Valve is 4 1/2 inches above the Base. The bottom of Sphere is 1 1/4 inches above the Base and it has a diameter of 1 3/4 inches. the Burner fits into an opening in the center of the Base right under the Sphere. The Engine by itself weighs 11 oz

The mini steam engine Cottage developed by Lutz Hielscher of Wuppertal is a highlight from the World’s smallest Steam Engines series. The water in the glass boiler is brought to boil by means of a tea light and the steam pressure thus generated powers the oscillating mini steam engine causing the flywheel to rotate.

A cottage is a little workshop. For example in the german area “Bergisches Land” have been located a lot of hammer and grinder cottages which were activated by water power. The water power has been replaced by small steam engines in 1800 to become independent of the water.
