This is the HALO five cylinder radial. Liney has been developing it as time allowed over the last three years. The intent was to make an external combustion (steam/compressed air) design that mimicked the operation of real radial aircraft engines as close as possible. It has cams on the crank which operate the pushrods and in turn the rocker arms and the very unique ball bearing valves. It has five 3/8th inch pistons linked to the single crank via a master rod and connecting rods just as would be expected in a full size radial. Best of all, the design allows you to see nearly every moving part while the engine is running. Even the cams and pushrod end bearings can be seen. Unlike a normal four stroke radial, every piston "fires" every revolution. Five power strokes per revolution! This kit includes all the materials, bar stock, accessory package and drawings for a machinist to machine and build. Some dimensions:.375 pistons with .375 stroke (square engine)The engine is just under 5 inches overall ODThe cylinders are .75 inches ODThe crankcase is 1.65 ODThe Drive shaft is 1/4"All material in this packet is copyrighted. This is a newer design that we are very excited about. It is nicknamed The Windmill and is an exceptionally beautiful and unique engine. Every part is made from solid brass or aluminum and finished with either a high polish, bead blasted, or jeweled surface. The base is solid walnut with a varathane coating. The engine uses five 1/4" single acting pistons with 1/2" strokes. The "wobble" style valving means that every cylinder is in a constant oscillating motion while running. This means lots of external motion and makes the engine very fascinating to watch. The main shaft runs in ball bearings. Turning the heavy brass flywheel by hand feels solid, and very smooth. This design is completely self starting and only 5 psi of pressure is required. In fact, it can run a few turns just blowing into the intake. The diameter around the outside of the five cylinders is four inches. The intake is a 1/8 O.D. brass pipe. If you would like a particular custom or standard fitting or even a displacement lubricator attached, please email for a quote. This kit includes all the materials, bar stock, accessory package and drawings for a machinist to machine and build.Five cyclinder Engine in Kit form needs machined. All material in this packet is copyrighted. ATTENTION MODEL MACHINISTS: Now you can build a stirling engine from a kit. At the request of many model builders, we are pleased to offer our famous Glassworks Engine as a machinist kit. Needs machined. You can easily show off your hard work by showing the pistons at work. Look inside the glass cylinders at the Stirling Cycle principle in action. This engine is extremely interesting to watch, and runs at speeds up to 1500 RPM. This is a hard combination to beat. A Pyrex hot cap, replaceable Pyrex power cylinder, gyro-quality ball bearings, bronze flywheel, aluminum cooling fins, and sand cast aluminum frame are only a few of the outstanding features incorporated into this engine. The completed Glassworks kit measures 7-1/2" x 4" x 3-1/2".A sample quantity of ESBIT dry fuel is supplied with the engine. Denatured alcohol also works well as a fuel for this engine. For those persons who prefer using denatured alcohol, we have developed a handy burner, STOCK #90, which is available for a small additional charge, and can be found on the SOLAR ENGINE ACCESSORIES PAGE.BUILD YOUR OWN STIRLING ENGINE TODAY!Needs to be MACHINED.

Bore 5/8 inch, Stroke 7/8 inch, Double ActingThis is a 1/8 scale model of an original engine manufactured by the Orr & Sembower Co. of Reading, PA. The original engine was a six H.P. class "F" engine. You may wish to purchase a reprinted copy of their original literature from our book list on page 38 of our catalog. The original engine we scaled this from came out of a nitroglycerin plant. It was used to mix the acids and glycerin for making nitro. Even after gas engines and electric motors became commonplace, steam engines were considered much more dependable. When mixing, they couldn't stop; for if they did, it was time to run for your life. With the boiler in the distance and high torque at low RPSs, the steam engine was much safer. This makes a beautiful model that you will be proud to own. But please don't make your own nitro plant. We like having you as a customer.Kit complete with bronze and iron castings, all required hardware, gasket material, bar stock and complete working drawings. Cast aluminum base platform. Weight 5.10 lbs Click on picture for large view of kit.
