This true to life live steam model (scale 1:43) is based on the Foden C-Type Steam Lorry of 1920. The Foden brothers manufactured very powerful steam lorries with 2 or 3 axles up until the 1930's in their factory in Cheshire, U.K. The first of these were “overtypes” having the Steam Engine mounted on top of the boiler. The “undertype” followed later, with the engine mounted under the chassis. The power of the engine was used to drive the rear axle. Later models were fitted with pneumatic tyres and could reach speeds of upto 60 mph / 95 kph. In 1931 Edwin Robert Foden split from his brother and founded ERF, where he concentrated on manufacturing diesel trucks.
