A Museum Quality Fire Engine by Maxwell Hemmens of the UK.
The story of Shand Mason fire trucks is a testament to the evolution of firefighting technology. Founded in 1760, Shand Mason became a leader in the design and manufacture of steam-powered fire engines. Their first commercially successful fire-engine was a water-borne version developed in 1855. The company collaborated with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and competitor Merryweather & Sons to perfect designs for land-based use. Shand Mason's engines were initially horse-drawn but later installed on fireboats and mounted on motor vehicles. The company was eventually taken over by Merryweather & Sons in 1928
